Chiffon is a fine, slightly loosely woven fabric with a matte surface. Where tulle and organza build volume, chiffon does the opposite: it flows downwards and makes a long, soft line without wrapping the body. That is why what makes a chiffon dress striking is not fullness but the way the fabric ripples at its own rhythm as the child walks.
On a child, chiffon is barely felt; the weight falling from the shoulders is slight and it does not restrict movement at the arms or legs. In frilled and flounced cuts the fabric does not stiffen, so the details sit like a soft wave. On long models, so that the skirt does not catch the child's step, we work out the length together with the height of the shoes she will wear on the day.
Chiffon suits summer weddings best, along with outdoor civil ceremonies and celebrations and daytime occasions in hot weather. It is easy to care for but it is a delicate fabric: sharp things such as nails and jewellery can pull a thread. Washing in cold water without wringing, drying flat or on a hanger and ironing briefly at the lowest setting is enough; chiffon dries quickly, and it should not be left wet for long so that the colour does not suffer.

Chiffon is a semi-sheer fabric, so the inner layer of the dress determines how it sits. If you tell us on WhatsApp what inner layer your child would be comfortable in, along with any sensitivities, we will decide together according to the model.
Which occasions call for chiffon and which for a fuller fabric?
At outdoor events, in the heat and at long ceremonies, the lightness of chiffon will not tire the child. If you want a more striking look in an indoor hall, you can also look at the tulle or satin models. Write to us with the place and time of the occasion and we will compare the options together.
